Don’t Be a Hard Rock When You Really Are a Gem

Today’s post is inspired by Ms. Lauryn Hill’s song “Doo Wop (That Thing)”

If you haven’t heard that song, stop what you are doing and give it a listen here.

“Don’t be a hard rock when you really are a gem” is one of my favorite lines in the song because to me it says “be all you can be, not what the world wants you to be.” So today’s post is a short reminder:

Be a you as you can possibly be. Let your light shine. Do your best. Be kind because you can be even when others are mean. And for the love of God: do not settle. You are a gem. Treat yourself like one and expect others to treat you like one. (Bonus video: why you are  sacred chalice and not a Pepsi can. It’s a Catholic video, but it a beautiful talk on self-worth. Check it out here)

Shine bright like a diamond!
